The Addiction Among Us

On most days, longing finds comfort in the weather. It stretches its legs and arms, seeking the embrace of the gushing wind or the kiss of the morning dew.

Almost anything after that could make the person highly aware of their surroundings. The soundless nights that otherwise would be filled with nature's chatter, longing makes it far more audible to human ears.

It is perhaps in longing you find yourself hearing the heart ever so closely that every time you concentrate, it follows with a multitude of emotions.

Emotions which longing mercilessly evokes, aching the soul and forcing it to rely on memories. Another powerful drug created by the human brain as if longing wasn't enough.

Memories are traps made for times when all is lost. It's a drug which subsides the pain of the present and transports us to the past.

It breeds the dangerous hope in many while for some it's a quick escape from reality. Triumph lies in its crippling nature and don't they say hope is a dangerous thing.

Longing, memories and hope, god knows how many lives were ruined in their names. Unfortunately, there is no man on earth living or dead who has been able to free themselves from these hopeless addictions.

In fact, most practices meant for peace and tranquility talk extensively of using them. Don't they say find your happy place.

Traps laid out for the human mind by the human mind.

Oh, so cynical you must be wondering. It is incredibly cynical but cynics think they are the real prophets who don't preach the past or the godmen's words. They tell things as it is.

The point of this monologue was to just get inside your brain and make you question the real addiction among us. And don't they say

never trust an addict
but after all aren't we all?
