Hurt Conscious

The light of the morning sun,
Illuminated her path
A familiar presence, held her grasp.
It was her conscious returning,
It was lost in all those moments
Of yearning.

She was a step ahead of herself,
She knew she would fall one day
And be hurt.
Entering her flesh, conscious said
'Don't be a fool, you'll regret'
She did what it said,
Made no difference
She was still hurt.

Again she rose,
From the darkness this time.
Conscious guided her everywhere
But hurt she was.
At last, conscious gave up
'What do you want really?'
She looked out the window.
Overlooking the path she had left.

'I want to be hurt' she said
'Without you telling not to be'
A step she took, crippled bones
But free from conscious, finally.
