#RambleCorner: 90 The New 70
When 2014 board results came out, all those who secured 90 and above were in an unmistakable euphoria for a few days. Finally, they had overcome the dangerous forces of distraction like WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram. They had managed to save their head for a while. However, the astonishing moment; the first cut-off list arrived and bombarded many students with long hours of tension and despair.
That moment students realised that the evil forces had won. A score of 95 or less had no worth. At least not in the prime institutions of our country. Now, at this catastrophic moment of life when dreams have been shattered by a difference of 0.2% two kinds of students emerge; the “Bye-Bye abroad” or the “Private fund”.
As a matter of fact, private institutions flourish on the admissions of those 95 and below category. They lure you with their extraordinary placement schemes and added exposure which you may not find in our country’s top-notch institutions.
Thus, the confused and vulnerable (Two best words to describe our nation's students) settles for whatever castes a stellar effect on their mind. Even if it means landing somewhere you may never want to work.
Does crazy cut-off marks imply that the college is good? No, it actually guarantees only one fact; something is seriously wrong with our education system. Think about it? In near future, if cut-off lists set benchmark that only some Sarthak Aggarwal (2014 CBSE Topper) can achieve, we'll be soon packing our bags and migrating to Africa for education. A mass exodus will follow among the Indian students. Thus, the confused and vulnerable (Two best words to describe our nation's students) settles for whatever castes a stellar effect on their mind. Even if it means landing somewhere you may never want to work.
And the brave and mighty who want a place here; brace yourself up because 90 IS THE NEW 70!
