Dedicated to my Aunt and many other thousand helpless souls.
24th August 2013, New Delhi
(Around noon)
Sarika was very happy. Her brother was blessed with a baby boy. She had decided to buy a gold chain as a gift for him. After compeleting her half-day at her office in Chandni Cowk, she went to the nearest jeweler. After that, she took an auto for her home. In the middle of the way, a helpless wailing man stopped the auto and said
'Please drop me to the nearest red light, my brother has met with an accident, I need this auto'
With the current scenario, Sarika was reluctant to offer him help.
'If he goes with you then I leave' she said to the auto driver
'Madame it is just a matter of two minutes' said the auto driver
Sarika was still not sure of it but ultimately decided to help the man.
The man sat next to the auto driver, Sarika didn't pay any attention to them. Before approaching the red light, the man took out a hankerchief and put it on Sarika's face.
(Around 6 o'clock in the evening)
A totally unfamiliar place it was, the sun was about to set. Her head ached and throat hurt. The pain was unbearable. At first Sarika had no idea what had happened, all she could realise was that the jewellary that she had bought for her nephew was missing, some other valuables and cash was taken from the purse. Phone! she thought.
Panic rose, she was scared to death. Tears rolled from her eyes but she managed to lift herself up and and search. Within a few minutes she found the handset but the sim was missing. Luckily, she found the SIM nearby. Within minutes she called up her husband and her cousin.
Where was she?
She had asked a local, though at that particular moment all the men around frightened her. 'You are on the Greater Noida expressway, seven six kilometres from Pari Chowk'
Distance from Chandni Chowk to G. Noida expressway, around 30-40kms.
(Help reached her in time.)

My reason for sharing this?
Everyday all such cases of robbery are reported. Though as a reader you can only imagine some stuff. But when someone close to you meets with this unkindness, all you can sense is despair.
My aunt is in complete state of shock.
But I would want you all to see the bright side, sure this incident will leave a scar but it could have left a far more big wound.
First, these people could have caused her harm or worse kill her but they didn't. They could have thrown the mobile somewhere far beyond her reach.
What can we do?
Well honestly, we have to live with it. This robber will get away just like the rest of the others. It's sad and depressing but this what our nation has become. A living nightmare!
