Met By Chance Part 7

‘Welcome!’ Myra stood in front of the door. She helped Shashrek with his bags.
‘God, they are heavy’
‘I am here for three months Myra’
Shashrek kept his bags in his new room.  They were soon in the living room. The house was just like he imagined; spic and span, so clean as if it was bacteria free.
Myra served dinner and they both ate. After their meals they both sat for a brief discussion. Myra had no idea what is was going to be like, except for her father and Arav she had never dealt with another man in her life, at least not for long.

‘Myra, what is your plan of action now? Three months I am here’
‘You say as if you are in captivity. Man, you can leave the moment you feel like’
‘Giving me too much freedom, not bad’
They both talked about how they are going to make it happen for them. Meeting people, Myra suggested was the best way. Shashrek seemed interested in the conversation; even his sister said that she might be the one. But he feared the past; he decided to tell Myra what had happened. She had to know…
‘Myra there is something I need to tell you…’
Myra was not used to Shashrek being so serious or considerate. He explained his past relationship with Saina. She couldn’t believe that he feared that she would turn out to be like Saina. But she was happy that he told her about all that, he was opening up with her.

‘C’mon, don’t let your past ruin your future’
‘I know but I just wanted to tell you. Do you have anything to say?’
‘What? Me? Nothing I guess, I have never been into serious relationships or any kind of drama that I would worry about it’
‘Never?’ Shashrek found it hard to believe. Myra was pretty, so he thought. She was independent and confident. Everything a guy might want in a girl.
‘Never had time, life was always eventful and Arav was always there for support’
‘Arav?’
‘Yes, my brother. Oh shit I never told you about him have I?’
‘No, not that I can recall’
‘And he happens to be coming home tomorrow’ she checked her phone.
‘What?’
‘He is in Delhi, wanted to meet tomorrow, and it is Saturday. You have office tomorrow?’
 ‘No, I have an off’
‘Great!’
After some time they both decided to call it a day. Myra still couldn’t believe that all this was true. But then, ‘has anyone told Arav about this yet?’ She thought. ‘He wouldn’t bother anyways’ she concluded. But who knew…

Meanwhile Shashrek was trying to adjust with his new bed. ‘Stupid mattress’ he cribbed, he couldn’t sleep.
The next morning, Myra woke up early. She had a lot to do, Arav was scheduled for dinner. It was one o’clock and Shashrek was still asleep. Myra had already finished her chores by that time. Tara called her for updates
‘So girl, how is it going for you?’
‘It has just been a day. Besides I think he is adjusting just fine, he hasn’t got up till now. What are your plans for today?’
‘Nothing special, Aman has an off tomorrow so we were thinking of going out for dinner tonight. Why are you asking?’
‘Arav is in town and he is coming for dinner, I wanted to invite you and Aman too for tonight’
‘Sounds good to me, we will be there’
‘Excellent!’ Myra said
Myra and Shashrek (Who woke up by lunch) were well prepared for the evening. Shashrek helped Myra by not disturbing her (Myra found it very helpful). He did his writing and some pending office work.
‘Hello, welcome!’ Myra hugged Tara and Aman.
‘Where is Shashrek?’ Tara asked.
‘Here he is’
Shashrek entered the living room.
‘Aman meet Shashrek, Shashrek this is Aman, my husband’ Tara introduced
‘How come Arav hasn’t reached?’ Tara asked
‘He said he is running a little late’ Myra replied
‘When is he leaving?’
‘He has his flight early morning tomorrow, so he will leave directly from here for the airport’
Shashrek and Aman were talking to each other with great comfort. Both worked in the same sector, thus they had common topics to discuss. Just then Myra received a call from Arav.
‘Myra so sorry but these investors have given me some work to do, and I even have to catch the flight. Next time I will definitely come, but sorry not today. You guys enjoy yourselves’
‘But…’

Before she could say anything, Arav cut the phone. She was utterly crushed; she wanted him to be there so badly, she wanted him to meet Shashrek and give his opinion about him. On top of that she had spent hours cooking for her brother. Her mood was spoilt so she decided to go in her room for a while.
Someone knocked her door; she wiped the few tears that rolled down her cheek. She was sure it was Tara but she was wrong, it was Shashrek who had come to see her.

‘Hey, what happened? Why are you crying?’ he asked
‘Arav cancelled, he said that he had some sort of work’ she sulked
‘C’mon that is nothing to cry for, I am sure he must have been busy’
‘But then he shouldn’t have confirmed anything, I had put a lot of effort for today’ and tears started rolling again. Suddenly Shashrek hugged her tightly
‘Myra, it’s okay. At least we can have more food now’ he joked
Myra managed to laugh on that. Just then they both heard Aman scream and rushed outside. Tara had fainted.
‘What happened? Get some water’ Myra said
‘I don’t know she went to the kitchen and collapsed ’panicked Aman
Shashrek got water for her, they poured some drops on her face but she wouldn’t respond.
‘I think we should take her to the doctor’
And they all left immediately. The hospital wasn’t far from Myra’s place, they got Tara admitted and waited till the doctor examined her.
‘Mr. Kapoor?’
‘Yes doctor, how is Tara?’ Aman asked
‘There is good news, you are about to become a father’
‘Oh! Aman congratulations!’ Myra said loudly and hugged him.
‘Thanks, can I see her?’ he asked the doctor desperately.
‘Yes, you can but you two should leave’ she pointed towards Shashrek and Myra
‘The hospital only allows one person; you can meet her in the visiting hours tomorrow’ the doctor concluded.
‘Okay, sorry guys but thank you so much. Myra thanks and it’s getting late you should leave, take my car’ Aman said
‘Yeah okay, we will see you tomorrow; if you need anything call me, bye’ Myra said and pushed off with Shashrek.
‘Khana phir reh gaya’(and the food is left again) Myra murmured.
‘What?’ Shashrek asked
‘Nothing’ and she gave him a smile.
