Met By Chance Part 10 (Conclusion)

‘What? That’s it, he just ended it there?’ asked Tara
‘Yes, Tara six months are about to finish and Daddy called yesterday for the signal, I just couldn’t say anything. What if Arav is right about Shashrek that he will just use me and leave me in the end?’ cried Myra
‘Myra this is one thing that will never happen, I swear on my unborn child. C’mon he loves you and I am sure he is taking his time’
‘How much time Tara? You know if he doesn’t say anything then I will. I will ask him, it’s a matter of life and death for me’ Myra said firmly.
‘Wait Myra, the sixth month hasn’t come to an end, maybe he is waiting for the right timing’
‘Right timing? To hell with right timing! I am going to ask him tonight, and if he says no I will have a week to get over it’

‘You have a back-up?’
‘Back up? For whom? Shashrek? No’
‘So you will get married to whoever uncle fixes your marriage with?’
‘Are you crazy? I will run away, that to out of India. I have been saving money, this is my back up’
‘Nice back up’ Tara said sarcastically ‘By the way where do you plan to go?’
‘Yeh dekho, bhagane par he tuli hui hai… some remote corner of the world’ (you just want me to leave)
‘I wish Shashrek comes after you to that remote corner and then you guys…..’ before Tara could complete her bizarre fantasy, Myra interrupted ‘You know they say that women go all crazy after completing five months of pregnancy, I guess they are right’
Later in the evening Myra was getting ready to say it all to Shashrek.
‘I had a wonderful time and I just wanted to ask you…’ she practiced in front of the mirror. When the bell rang, Myra reached for the door, Shashrek seemed pretty tired. So Myra decided to confront him later

‘Listen, will you be free around noon tomorrow?’ Shashrek asked
‘Why? What happened? I can ask for a break’ Myra replied
‘I need to go to the school, need my birth certificate’
‘Birth certificate? For what?’
‘My original one got lost and school has copy, need it for some documents and I don’t want to go alone’
‘Okay, I will come. Listen I need to ask you something…’
‘Oh shit!’ Shashrek thought
‘What?’ he asked coldly
‘Never mind, maybe later’ Myra decided not to say it today.
‘Phew’ Shashrek took a deep breath
Shashrek couldn’t sleep properly; it was the day for him, to tell Myra how he felt. ‘What was she going to say?’ he thought.

The next day, Myra found Shashrek waiting for her at their school’s main gate. She hadn’t seen her school since the alumni meet, her school was a place of its own; the building from the 1980’s and painted red bricks. This was the place where she had seen Shashrek for the first time, this was the place where she had fallen in love and she just wanted to confess it to him.
‘The administrator says that he will take time to find it, do you want to eat something? Canteen is open’ Shashrek asked
  ‘Yeah why not’ Myra said
It was a weekday and the break had just started, so the canteen was crowded by DPS’s students dressed in their white uniforms. Shashrek had to fight his way through the crowd to get some food.
‘Spring rolls? They still serve them and where is the…’
‘Chutney! Here it is’ Shashrek  served
‘Awesome! I am having them like after eight or nine years’
Myra took a big bite of her spring roll, but when she started to chew it she found something weird. She inserted her finger in her mouth and took out….a ring!
Shashrek was on his knees already; all the students were staring at them (Myra found it awkward) and he began to say
‘This is the place where I saw you for the first time, you were surrounded by your group of friends and that day I just couldn’t help but notice you. Myra you are the most amazing person that I have ever met, I suck at saying all this but today I just want to say that I love you will my whole heart and will you Myra Arora marry me?’
The students present in the canteen were watching them with full concentration; some cheeky ones even started singing Hindi songs. Shashrek was waiting for an answer, Myra was overjoyed and managed to say yes and broke down. Shashrek made her wear the ring and kissed her in front of the whole canteen. The students started to whistle and clap, and then the teachers arrived. Myra and Shashrek were kicked out of their school and both of them started to laugh!
‘Did you make up that canteen story to impress those little girls in the canteen?’ Myra asked
‘No! I was just being romantic…’ Shashrek said
‘Well, you certainly know how to be romantic…’

And a fortunate ending for Myra and Shashrek . They were married after four months, Tara gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Arav apologised to Myra for doubting Shashrek. Shashrek penned his love story and titled it as “Met by Chance”. His publishers published his book which went on to become a best seller! Myra and Shashrek are still together and love each other immensely!
