Met By Chance Part 2

The next few days were exciting for Myra. With the upcoming Alumni Meet and the wedding she couldn’t find any time for herself but she didn’t mind that. When she told her parents about her plans of that Sunday, they weren’t quite as cooperative as she thought they will be but Arav being the best brother(doesn’t happen very often) convinced them to let her go.

‘Thank You so much, how could I have possibly convinced them if you were not here’ said Myra
‘C’mon it is no big deal’ said Arav
‘Something’s fishy’ Myra thought. Arav certainly wanted some favour. Later that day he asked Myra if she was ready to go with Driti for shopping again.
‘What? No, this is the seventh time in the past two weeks that you have asked me to go shopping with her. Why don’t you go?’
‘Please! Last time, going out with Driti for shopping is pathetically boring, you know how she is, at least let me enjoy my last days of bachelorhood without any malls! And I even asked Mummy and Daddy to let you go for that Alumni Meet.’

Myra knew that it will be a waste to argue with him, he was after all the younger one. Myra had no choice left.  She went for shopping with Driti.
After coming back, Myra threw herself towards the bed. She was dead tired but before she could take a nap, she was disturbed by her annoying cell phone. People at work definitely didn’t enjoy her peace.
‘Myra! You have that GBC assignment to do, when will you submit it ?’ demanded her boss
‘It’s all done; I did e-mail it to you’ Myra answered in a half awake tone.
‘Oh! I might have not checked it then. Anyway, Myra how is the wedding preparation?’
‘Naina, why have you called me?’ asked Myra.
‘Myra talk to me properly I am your boss' she snapped 'Myra I am getting bored. I need to do something. Dad’s office is like hell!’

Naina Sahai was Myra’s boss’s daughter. She had graduated from a fancy college in England and was assisting her father at his company. She was an intelligent girl but lacked seriousness. Myra adored Naina and gelled with her in the most amazing way.
‘Naina, can we talk tomorrow. I am very tired’
‘Okay Miss, see you tomorrow’
As things at office were getting tough for the others, Myra decided to stand a class apart. Her work was an integral part of her life. Soon came the most awaited day, the Alumni Meet.
In Myra’s group nobody had got married but the others from the same batch had. One could notice the girls with their shining solitaires and husbands. It was the most amazing feeling to meet all the friends again. Dayal Public School, the place where they all had grown up from children to young boys and girls. They all talked about their lives and accomplishments. Some had become successful doctors, some engineers and some businessmen. But they all remained the same, the bossy remained bossy and the shy remained shy.

‘Oye, Shashrek Gupta bhi yahaan aya hai!(listen, Shashrek Gupta is also here)’ said Avni
Myra who was drinking water at that moment started to choke. All attention dragged towards her, everyone went about eleven years in the past. Shashrek Gupta, Myra’s only love interest in the school and the guy from that pastry shop. She and her friends were sixteen then. Myra couldn’t help but the blush came naturally on her face. Everybody started to laugh at her, she hadn’t changed too. Secretly she still liked him.
‘Why don’t you go and talk to him, he is alone and probably single’ Avni teased.
‘Are you crazy, he wouldn’t even recognize me’
‘C’mon Myra Arora, don’t give me that shit, just go and  get him’ said another friend.
With all of them prompting her so much, she finally went up to him. ‘It is going to be all fine’ she said to herself. He was sitting near the food counter, when Myra tried to talk. Someone else from the behind called her name.It was Shruti Sinha.
‘Myra! long-time no see! Where have you been?’ she said. Myra’s friends were watching her.
‘Ab yeh kahaan se agai?’ said Avni
‘Yahaan se!’ said Samar
(This is a DPS classic, translation will spoil it)

‘And Myra I would like you to meet Shashrek Gupta. A very good friend of mine and our senior, remember?’
‘Yes off course I remember’ Shashrek said. Myra was surprised she hadn’t expected such a reply.
‘You were the secretary of the Victor’s Club right?’ Shashrek asked.
‘Yeah that was me’
‘Okay you too continue’ said Shruti and left.
‘So how are you doing?’ Myra asked
‘I am doing great, I am working with a bank, but that is temporary. I am right now into writing’
‘That is wonderful!’
‘What about you?’
‘I am working as a senior consultant in a Delhi based software designing company’
‘Oh! So you are too in Delhi, we should definitely meet up sometime. I have been in Delhi for the last four years, give me your number I will definitely call you sometime’
They both exchanged their numbers. Shashrek then left as he was getting late for some meeting. Myra’s friends were thrilled to hear their conversation. They all were giving her those funny looks.
‘Don’t call him, let him take the lead’ Avni said.
‘I know the rules, the game is on babe’ Myra said.
