Till Death Do Us Apart Part 4
‘What happened here?’ asked Shanaya. ‘What? Oh! I thought I
will clean the house today’ replied Kathryn.
‘You should do it more often. This place is literally
sparkling, is someone coming tonight?’
‘Yes, a friend. I am meeting him after ten years. I hope you
don’t mind’
‘No, not at all, in fact I have plans of my own tonight.’
‘What? You will not be here’ said Kathryn,
‘Yeah, it is Ayan’s birthday today. I thought of celebrating
and I even thought I will ask you but since you already made plans, I guess it
is just me and the baby’
‘Oh wow! I am so sorry I wouldn’t be there.’
‘It’s okay, you enjoy your night’ Shanaya said. She then went
inside her room.
Now what? Kathryn thought.
‘Happy Birthday’ said Mist. ‘Who told you? Shanaya?’ asked
Ayan. Mist nodded her head
‘We have to change today’s plan, she is busy celebrating
your birthday’
‘But it has to be today, Miranda is about to send me on some
mission. I have to see her before I leave’
‘Yeah, But I don’t know where she is going. She didn’t tell
me’
‘She didn’t tell you or you didn’t ask?’
‘Both’
‘I think I know where she is’
Mist had no idea where they were going. But she could see
the desperation on Ayan’s face. He had to disguise himself. He was dressed in
jeans and white shirt. He looked smart.
‘Almost there!’ said Ayan enthusiastically. The smile on his
face was a mile long, he definitely seemed very happy. The taxi stopped at a
restaurant called Ichiban.
‘Shanaya and I had come here for our anniversary a year ago.
She really liked this place, but I got to know her location by the tracker I
had placed in her necklace.
‘When did you put the tracker?’ mist asked.
‘While I was following her in the supermarket, I caught hold
of her necklace that she wears very often. Luckily she had been wearing it
tonight too’ he explained.
And there she was, dressed beautifully in a black dress
which highlighted her four month foetus. Ayan was in tears but he controlled
them. Mist caught his hand and went towards Shanaya.
‘Shanaya? What a coincidence!’ said Kathryn (pretending in
an aw of surprise)
‘Kathryn, what a pleasant surprise’ Shanaya said.
‘Shanaya, I would like you to meet Aiden, my friend from
college. Aiden this is Shanaya, my apartment mate.
‘Pleased to meet you’ said Shanaya.
They both shook hands with each other. Ayan (Aiden) wanted
to hug her but he couldn’t do that. He knew he had restrictions. They all
decided to share the table with Shanaya. After a decent conversation and Ayan being sure
that Shanaya didn’t get to know a thing, they ordered their food.
Shanaya was enjoying the company of the two. Aiden seemed
very much like someone she knew, someone very close to her, someone like Ayan.
She noticed the way he laughed. His smile reminded her of him. She got
emotional and rushed to the washroom.
‘What did I do?’ asked Ayan.
‘You must have done something; she rushed towards the
washroom because she had tears. I think it is enough. You should leave now!’
ordered Mist.
‘What? No!’
‘You don’t utter a
word. Leave and I will handle from here’ yelled mist.
Ayan had no choice but to leave. He didn’t mean to upset
her.
‘Oh! What happened? Where is your friend?’ asked Shanaya.
‘He left; he got a call from his workplace. Are you
alright?’ asked Kathryn
‘Me? Yes, I am fine. I think I should go home, I am not
feeling that well’
They both left the restaurant shortly after Shanaya
complained of headache. After their meeting, Shanaya had not been keeping well.
She was vomiting on and off. She even had to take leave from her office. This
had got Ayan worried; he was again blaming himself for Shanaya’s ill health.
Mist was confused, she was getting panicky as she had to take care of Shanaya
and had to calm Ayan.
‘Don’t you worry, she will be alright’ she said
‘It is all because of me. I shouldn’t have met her. AND WHY
ARE YOU NOT WITH HER?’ shouted Ayan
Mist got angry. Her level of patience had reached its top
level; she was doing all of this because she cared for Ayan. Now she had too
much of it.
‘Don’t get mad at me. Handle your stuff on your own. You
left her, I didn’t’ yelled Mist.
She knew she had said too much. Ayan wasn’t ready for this,
before she could say anything, he left the room. She tried to call his name
out, he didn’t respond. She went to look for him but she couldn’t find him.
Then it occurred to her. He had gone to see Shanaya.
