We Are All Afraid, We Are All Angry.

I am quite disappointed with the fact that it took me five months to finally write something and that too at such a morbid time. The last couple of days haven't been easy; no oxygen, no beds, countless deaths and worsened case numbers. This is the summary. The hue and cry, the outrage, and the carelessness shown towards human lives, our lives goes only to prove, we don't mean anything to the authorities. Yes, we are too many, how many can they save? What poor justification for the beyond miserable attempts to safeguard their own people.

And I still can't comprehend how the authorities are garnering support from sympathisers even in crisis times. They have been blinded by their leader so much so that this mayhem has led them to turn a side eye. Sure they are a privileged bunch. People who have "connections", people with private jets and London homes, people who for a second don't think things could turn very ugly for them. This anger, this frustration lies with anyone who has been directly or indirectly been part of the "system".

Our healthcare workers denounced their warrior titles because they are not supposed to be warriors, they are protectors of those in need. But who protects them? The fools we elected don't. Those stuck above the glass ceiling don't. They have nothing and no one. Left at the bemusement of mismanaged drug supplies, black marketed or stolen, who knows and who even cares? Like who really does? Students perhaps. The ones acting well beyond their years carrying out the herculean task of crowdsourcing resources, a task that should have been managed by well, you know who.

Instead we have religious congregations being held in vast majority with full pomp and show. Leaders go out of their way to express how we are pandemic proof, guess who is reeling under their false promises. The common man of course. The sufferer is always the common man.

I shall end this harrowing narrative by rephrasing a very popular quote–

“A person is born free, and everywhere a common person is in chains.”

You know what happened to their queen and king, is that the step we are about to take?
