The Angel Makers
It was just another gloomy night for the ordinary living
beings of Nagyrev . The weather had never been so harsh and the
Angel Makers never so horrific. The men had sacrificed their living to serve their mother
land, Hungary, at the war front. On the other hand, the woman of Nagyrev were up to no good.
‘What’s the matter, lass?’
‘Julia, he’s back and he knows!’
Julia’s face hardened, she knew exactly what to do. She’d
done it dozens of times. Her mind always thought of how god would punish her.
But it was too late to give up, her hands were already dirty.
‘Get in, before the cold catches you. We will have to do it tonight’
‘Tonight? But when? Tamas is asleep!’
‘We will do it while he is asleep’ Julia confirmed.
‘But how?’
‘The Angels will help, of course!’
‘It’s true then? They really exist?’
‘My dear, there are more like you than you can ever imagine’
Juila opened one of her caskets. She took out a small vile
and handed it over to Anna.
‘What is this?’
‘Arsenic’
‘To poison him?’
‘No, to give him wings!’
‘Juila’, Anna said in a deep undertone. ‘Should I reconsider?’
‘Anna, why put up with them?’
Julia knew Anna’s story. It was like the rest of them. Tamas
was chosen by Anna’s family for her. She never wanted to marry him. She never
understood why her parents chose him after all. Tamas proved nothing worthy
than an alcoholic. Anna didn’t let him touch her, so when Tamas got back from
the war, he knew the baby that was born wasn’t his. Tired from war, he drank
his way to sleep and decided to brutally punish Anna for her betrayal when he
got up. However, Julia was a strong resolved woman. She would steal his breath
before he even sees the morning star.
Julia’s door knocked again; either it was another woman like
Anna or her accomplice Susi. A small woman of black hair and crooked nose stood
at her door, it was indeed Susi.
‘I saw a lot of commotion through the window, what’s the
matter?’
‘Susi, Anna’s here. She needs help’
Susi had committed as many crimes as Julia. For her this was
more of social service than murder. She knew what was to be done and how. A
trained midwife, she and Julia helped the Angels get their peace of mind.
‘What are we waiting for?’

Hi there, I have been following you for quite some time now. And I absolutely love the kind of imagination and perspective you wrote with it. Is it possible to have a series for this one as well?
ReplyDeleteWell, yes. I would definitely write something with black emotion as my theme. As far as continuing this particular story, you'll have to see!
