La Viola Vino : Part 1

KIA

I opened my apartment door and went straight towards bed. There was emptiness all over, could anything else happen today? My phone beeped, brilliant. I just got dismissed. This was the right time for me to watch all the crazy obsessive movies my best friend wanted me to see. That is, if she was still my best friend. I checked my mail and went to the starred section. The trip we all seldom dreamt about and never thought would happen. But here it was, lying in my mail box for over two months now. Then it struck me; my passport and visa. I always had a back-up plan and its always good to have one.

MYRA

There was a sudden upheaval in my stomach, Shashrek hugged me too tight. He almost squashed my insides. His gyming was definitely making him fit.
'It's just a week, Shash' I tried to cheer him up.
'It's a week!' he moaned and removed his arms. Honestly, I loved watching him like this. Since all his guy friends bailed out, he was most irritable but most cute, the love-struck girl hormones were kicking in. I didn't want to leave him alone but I couldn't definitely not take him along. A fact that he too knew well.
'Can't you go somewhere close?' he asked peevishly.
'Italy isn't far' I said and continued packing. I was sure that he wouldn't want me to go. He also knew that a fracas on this topic will be useless. I had waited too long for this to happen. Not even the man I love could take that away from me, unless he decides to call off the wedding which I highly doubt.
'Fine, go. Have a great time' his face made it clear that he wasn't wishing me well. I bent towards to his face and blew the lightest kiss.
'It would have been better if you were more happy' I teased.
'I am happy but at the same time I feel like murdering Kunal. How could he out of everyone ditch me at the last moment!' he complained. Honestly, Shashrek did suffer injustice.
'Babe, I am sorry. I wish I could do anything'
'Yes, you can. Don't go' he tried again, this time I would have thrashed him but he held me again and I couldn't resist it. Crazy, abrupt thoughts. Maybe I could let it go...No! No way!
'Anyway, I am not going to act selfish. Have fun and I love you' he finally said with happiness.
'What fun am I allowed?' I cheekily asked.
'Challenge me on this one' he answered cleverly.
Suddenly, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I tapped the screen with my password and marvelled my new wallpaper. Earlier it was me and Shashrek together but now it had changed to a famous Roman club, La Viola Vino. Naina specifically asked me to detach from all kind of PDA on phone while on the trip. So she removed all the photos of me and Shashrek together. Thank god she spared his contact photo.
Roman Holiday, our WhatsApp group had received the latest update, butterflies in the stomach rumbled even more. Finally, all of us were going.

There was no time to think and I started with the Herculean task of packing. I informed the girls that I was going to be there but was I really upto it? Did my finances allow me to splurge? Considering the fact that I was jobless, I had loads at stake. 'Who cares! I'm a smart, independent woman. I can find a job within minutes' I thought to myself as I bestowed myself with flattering remarks and self praise. Meanwhile, I had made two people's life difficult; my travel agent's and my overbearing mother's.
My travel agent tried to get me the last minute ticket on the same flight as the girls. He owed me a lot, so through heaven and hell, he got it. Then came my insurance which happened in minutes with the help of some really loyal colleagues. I had procured my visa weeks before, to be on the safer side. At that time, I wasn't sure if I was going to make it but who could stop destiny!

MYRA

My eyes stared the ceiling. In less than twenty-hours, I will be a different surrounding altogether, far away from the man of my life. And after coming back, a month later I'll be married to him. Secretly, I don't wish to have too much fun because even miles away my heart will only beat for one. Knowing that he is alone here will obviously not make me feel good. However, my own personal commitments shouldn't come in between my girl's ideas for "fun".  Finally, the cab arrived with my best friend seated and clad for holiday. She got her purple highlights done which went in contrast with the yellow summer dress that she was wearing.
'That's it?' I asked, her minimalist approach to style was new and refreshing.
'I am going to Italy baby, the trunks will open there' and then my eyes went to her bags.
'Is there some fashion show in Italy that you're participating and I am not aware of it?' my suspicion was apt when I saw the number of bags she was bringing along.
'Don't worry, its not much'
'Yeah, I am sure' I sarcastically remarked.
'We are not waiting for Shashrek?' she asked as the cabbie started the vehicle.
'No, he said goodbye yesterday. Office today'
'On Saturday?'
'Yeah, he is getting his paper's ready for transfer'
'Transfer?' Naina caught on the word that I was hoping I hadn't said.
'Nothing. Can it wait?' I pleaded, judging Naina by looks, she could right now concede into anything. She was just too happy to see all of us and that for a week long reunion.
'It's amazing that all of us could manage coming, isn't it?' she asked.
I nodded as I tracked everyone else from the phone. Instant messaging can be such a blessing.
On a Saturday that too for International Airport one could hope for less traffic and we hoped for the best. Alas, the best was a long stretch of traffic, our driver narrowed from one lane to another and made us reach the airport somehow.
Naina grabbed the bags and I pulled out a trolley. Fortunately, the rest of the gang arrived shortly. We hugged each other as if the world had come to an end, obviously our excitement was led out in the open. We had already discussed our plans in a meeting. Though, Kia whose plans were made just hours ago hadn't arrived.
Shaneela and Akshara gossipped like married woman do, soon I will be joining their booth too. Naina cut them mid-way because she swore not to let anyone talk about their spouses and household issues
'The married and about to get married can shut up or you will see my wrath' she warned us all.
Bhoomi and I were the eldest and the most responsible, I was trying to get hold of Kia while she was checking the tickets and passports.
Finally, Kia arrived. Her state was of complete distress but her smiling face was enough for us to make relieved. Telling a bunch of ordinary woman to party is like telling a saint to go to hell, but the thing was; WE WERE NOT ORDINARY,
OUR TIME TO HELL WAS AHEAD!
