Venom : Part 6

It was a hot, sunny day. Meera and Raina were waiting at the Indira Gandhi International Airport for Mr Belevich. There had been no major discovery on the Venom case. The senior officers on board were talking about shutting the case as no lead was forging through. Apart from this, the Russian government also wanted their timely intervention. They were still oblivious of the exact reason for Dr Ivan's murder.
'So why is he exactly needed?' Raina asked.

'He isn't. Dr Ivan's case was ruled as heart failure by the local police. For them the case is closed. However-'
'The country's higher authorities have linked it to Venom and have demanded an explanation?' Raina conjectured and Meera nodded. Raina's massive intellect design no more startled Meera, for her to be brilliant had become a routine. Even when there was no major breakthrough in the case, she reached the lab on time to do her job without hesitation.

'What if they actually close it?' Raina asked.
'Simple, I am back to the desk and you at your aunt's '
Raina frowned, she didn't want to go back at all. She loved working at the lab with other chemical geniuses who were hardly bothered by her presence. Apart from this, she loved spending time with Meera, she was closest to a best friend. A friend she always wanted to cherish. She knew if they closed the case it would shatter Meera. After all, her whole life depends on it. Meera's phone buzzed, her eyes drawn to the screen and she typed a text. She then opened the car door and stepped out.
'I'll be back within minutes. Apparently, Mr Belevich is having problem speaking Hindi' she scowled.

Raina waited in the car as told, she grabbed her tablet and started writing the chemical she had been working on. Something she hadn't told Meera. It interested her the moment she heard about it; Time-out pills.
She knew it was something related to biology because Dr Kumar wouldn't be involved if it wasn't. Raina relentlessly searched for organisms or South-African species of plants that could inhibit such actions. Suddenly, there was a knock on her side window. A man stooped low so that his face could be visible to Raina. She rolled it down, the man spoke in heavy accent, obviously he didn't know Hindi.
'Hello, I'm Russian Interpol officer, Erik Belevich' he introduced.
'But my partner just went to receive you at the exit gate. She said you had some problem with the language'
'Yeah, yeah! But I found my way' he said in his nearly understandable accent.
'Then I must call her to tell that you found your way' she said and opened the back door for Mr Belevich. He didn't look like how Meera described Russian Interpol, he was tall and well muscled like he had been going to gym for ages. His had blonde hair which were fashioned in military cut. Overall looks were like of a action movie villain.
'Hey, Mr Belevich just arrived. I guess he found his way' Raina informed Meera
'What are you saying he is with me!' she exclaimed.
'What? But-' when suddenly Raina felt a gun behind her. Fear crept through her spine when the man, who isn't what he claimed to be came near her ear and whispered 'Shush! and drive away or I shall kill you'. Raina cut the phone and gave it to him. The man simply crushed it with his own hand which frightened Raina to death.
'What do you want?'
'We can talk about it later. Drive, now!'
Raina hurried into the driver seat. Unfortunately, Meera hadn't taken the key. Raina started the engine and drove out of the parking lot, the man's gun still pointed at her.

Meera dialled Raina's number but it was unreachable. What did she mean that Belevich had already arrived? she thought. She told the unobservant looking Russian fellow, actual Erik Belevich that something was wrong. The car had been missing from the parking lot. Within seconds it was all clear to Meera. She called the IB office and asked for another ride. Also, she called Vashisht to track the vehicle in which Raina and she earlier were.
In the mean time, she sent Mr Belevich to the Russian embassy in a taxi for some unresolved business. She could possibly not handle this situation with an extra baggage.
'Meera, the car you and Raina got in has been out of range for over twenty minutes. It was last checked at the  near Dhaula Kuan' Vashisht informed her.
Beads of sweat formed on Meera's forehead, how could this situation arise when there was no catching hold of Venom. She checked her phone when an anonymous e-mail came to her.

Come and get her. All I need is information. 11:00
You know where to find me.

After reading the mail, memories of past came rushing to her. She knew he came for payback but Raina wasn't going to be involved. Meera asked the driver to drop her Rajiv Chowk Metro Station.
'Go straight to the bureau and tell Vashisht to send the car at this address at 11:15 sharp' and she handed the driver a piece of paper.  She had to pass through the X-ray machine with her gun. The machine didn't beep as usual, it wasn't working. The lady inspector didn't bother to go till the ankle where Meera had her gun. Without making any suspicious gestures, she led herself into the Metro.

'What do you want?' Raina sobbed while the man cuffed her into a chair. They were at an abandoned warehouse, after driving out of the airport premises, the man drugged Raina. When she gained consciousness she found herself at the filthy surroundings.
'I don't want you, I want her' he said
'Please let me go' she cried. Her stomach rumbled and her throat was dry. All attempts of mercy were futile, the man was an incurable sufferer.
'Its eleven, she should be here by now' he spoke.
A few minutes later, footsteps of someone could be heard. Meera stood with her gun pointed towards the man. She was nearly fifty metres away or so
'Are you good?' she asked and Raina nodded.
'Have you got what I wanted?' the man asked.
'I told you before also, Da-ul isn't with me'
'But aren't you searching for him!' he shouted.
'Vincent, you just don't expect me to find Da-ul and give him to you' Meera approached in small steps.
'But that was the deal, Meera!'
'Yes, but I need to find him first. It won't happen if you abduct my colleagues and blackmail me'
'What about the rest?'
Meera took out a flash drive and dropped it to the ground.
'You have ten minutes, Vincent. You should leave'
The man, Vincent picked up the drive and ran away. Meera didn't try to catch him nor did she show any disgusted emotions rather they were of pity. She uncuffed Raina and hugged her tightly.
'I'm sorry, it wasn't supposed to happen like this'
'Get me food!' howled Raina and Meera burst into laughter.
***
Venom checked in at the airport. She saw her boarding pass, her new identity was challenging and her task even more complicated. She only knew one thing; it was time for one last blow.
