Venom : Part 3
'Dr Kumar?' said the waitress with a pleasing expression.
'Yes?' answered the doctor, as she opened the door.
'Room service'
'But I didn't order any' the middle aged doctor spoke as the waitress led herself into her hotel room.
'Sure you didn't' she said coldly. Her green eyes met with the doctor's. She took out a cloth and a spray bottle. 'Excuse me? What kind of intrusion is this!' snarled Dr Kumar. The waitress came closer to doctor and sprayed the liquid on her face. 'Sweet dreams' she whispered. The doctor fell dead on the floor immediately.
Raina had been house-hunting for almost a week now. She had searched for apartments everywhere but none of them suited her specifications. Meanwhile, she had been living with her aunt. When she talked about getting her own place, her aunt seemed to have no objection. Raina and her were not in the best relations but she had been kind enough to raise her, maybe not as well as her own children, but better than a foster home. Also, she was the only family to Raina after her parents passed away years ago.
'How's it with the house-hunting?' Meera asked, she was running errands to find information on Venom's whereabouts and came to the lab from time to time. The lab was magical, probably the best place on earth for Raina. It was equipped with machines having latest technology, unfamiliar compounds and an overgrowing collection of research books. Raina was researching with two other specialists. They hardly interacted with Raina as they were busy with other cases.
'Still no luck. Its becoming frustrating now!' Raina cribbed as she scribbled few equations.
'Wait, maybe you could stay with me?' Meera suggested.
'What?'
'Temporarily, till you don't find a place'
'No, that's fine. I can put up with my aunt till then'
'Are you sure? You said she wasn't that pleased about the abrupt timings and trust me, working hours don't get any better here' Meera said in a convincing tone. Raina as it is wanted to move out. Secretly, Meera wanted someone to live with her. The loneliness at home seemed to destroy her internally. 'Think about it, no pressure' Meera finally said.
'I think that will be great' Raina replied.
'When do I move in?' she asked
'This weekend will be great' Meera answered.
Suddenly, Meera's phone rang. She looked at the screen and wasn't pleased at all.
'Ray speaking' she answered.
'Meera, reach ITC Maurya immediately'
'Why?'
'Director General's orders. Reach as soon as possible' and the phone disconnected.
'Who was it?' asked Raina
'Vashisht, I think I'll go mad chasing shadows!' she complained.
'You want me to come?' Raina offered, the lab was becoming a bit boring and she hadn't reached on anything new.
'Actually, you should! You're my co-operative' Meera said a bit more enthusiastically.

Meera had seen many corpses in her life, the first time was when her parents died. After that, she had several classes on human anatomy. She still remembers her Forensics workshop where she had to work with two people; lab partner and a dead body. However, Raina became hysterical the moment she got to know that a murder had taken place. She had mixed emotions about the whole situation.
'Ray!' called out an official in black suit.
'So its a murder' Meera said, there was impoliteness in her words.
'Yes, and we think its her'
'Who?' she asked with lack of interest.
'The one you've been chasing around' the official cleverly spoke.
'Venom!' Meera shot back, suddenly all her attention was brought to the effortless murder of a mildly famous biologist.
Both of them talked as they walked till the site of murder. Raina walked a little slowly than the two, she was in no hurry to see a dead doctor.
'Does the press know?' Meera asked.
'No, they haven't been given knowledge of a murder but of suicide' said the official, named Karan Vashisht.
'Suicide? What did the doctor's say?'
'Heart-rate slowed and paralysis'
'Sounds like Venom too' Raina interjected.
The crime scene was filled with people in uniform, from Forensics to local police. When the IB officials made their way, all the talking died out instantly. A local police investigator asked them their purpose of visit. Meera politely informed him about the sensitivity of their visit and asked him a few questions. Meanwhile, Raina went to have a word with the guy dealing with prints and evidence.
'Hey, can I borrow a few of the concentration' she said to him. Funny looking young fellow.
'And who are you?' he asked
'Raina Kaul, IB official' and she flashed him her badge(she acquired one after she joined).
'It says that you're an intern, I can't give you anything' he said after examining her identity. He spoke in a different accent, certainly not North Indian.
'Its okay, Sooraj. She is with us' said Karan from behind. And the he didn't object any further. He gave Raina a test-tube in which she poured the solution, the one Venom had got away with, yet again. 'Did you get it?' Meera asked and Raina nodded.
After a few examinations Meera and Raina left the premises.
Meera came across the hotel CCTV footage but all cameras of that particular floor seemed to have been hacked the entire time.
'Did you check the outside footage?'
'Yes, but hacked again. No single movement in that one hour'
'So, Venom is a hacker too now. Brilliant!' Raina scoffingly said.
'I really don't understand. Her last two targets have no connection, Ivan was a physicist and Dr Kumar a biologist. They have nothing in common except and Science Convention where they both were present in Geneva last year'
'Are you talking about The Scholar's Science Convention of 2013?' Raina suddenly she sat upright in attention.
'Yeah, why?'
'Meera, that's the biggest and most innovative Convention till date. The kind of ideas people wanted to profess were exhilarating. In fact one of the researcher's who proposed a plan on safer-nuclear energy was from India, Dr S R Narayan'
'Who?' Meera asked in embarrassment. She had no interest in Science but somehow, Raina's knowledge started to make something
'Dr Narayan heads his research lab in Chennai. He is a nuclear physicist and very young. At the age of twenty seven, he proposed several functioning of Nuclear reactors. The re-utilisation of disposed radioactive material is also one of his specialisation. In the last Convention, apart from Nuclear, he wanted to harness atomised energy'
'How does he interest Venom?' Meera vaguely asked. Raina gave Meera a dubious look, like even asking her this was doubting her vast knowledge.
'I don't know, I was just telling you about the scientist' she irritatedly replied.
Meera's phone rang, it was from the Forensics department.
'Ray speaking'. Meera's expression changed instantly, she took a sharp turn and the car almost skid .
'Woah!' gasped Raina, whose head hit the car-door.
'We've got a print' Meera said excitedly
