Book Worms Delight #3 Inferno By Dan Brown
The end is near. Yeah, that is exactly the first thought after reading Dan Brown’s latest novel Inferno. First of all, its really not a novel that just talks about the apocalypse. It’s a novel that gives you the right picture about apocalypse, no aliens, no invasions, the root cause will be us, humans.
So the book begins, Renowned symbolist Dr Robert Langdon wakes up in a hospital, a bullet grazed his head. He is diagnosed with retrograde amnesia. Where is he? In the beautiful city of Florence! How did he land up there? He has no idea. It is told that a few days of his life have gone blank, all that he can think of is a silver haired woman and Langdon repeating these very words “very sorry”.
The events take a sharp turn when an assassin dressed in black leather suit with curly short hair enters the hospital premises and tries to shoot Dr Langdon in the head. Luckily he is saved by his exceptionally attractive and intelligent doctor, Sienna Brooks. Dr Brooks is a prominent character and has a story of her own. So definitely not to miss her out.
The antagonist in the book is a world famous scientist, Bertrand Zobrist. Particularly obsessed by Dante’s Inferno, Zobrist has predicted the end of the world. (Zobrist obsession with Inferno eventually turns the back bone for the novel)
The book continues with Langdon dealing with many questions. Who was that silver haired woman? And why is he very sorry? Why is someone trying to kill him? What does he ‘seek and find’? You shall read and find !
One thing; you need not buy a guide to Florence if you have this book as the whole city has been beautifully narrated in the book, starting from the banks of river Arno to Vasari's secret passage. It also takes you to Venice and Istanbul.
What I enjoyed the most?
Though I was hooked to this book completely, but there were several things that I really enjoyed. The seven deadly sins described in Dante’s Inferno are quite a thing to keep in mind. Dan Brown’s input of the Provost, really you just can’t stop admiring his work policies and principles.
The suspense of the book, for me it was ruined by a friend. What an ass? I know right! But I will save it for you...
Read ye Shall find
(Thanks to my friend for lending me this book and those who suggested me to read this one.)
