Book Worms Delight #2 : The Woman in Black -Susan Hill
Set in the countryside of England in the early nineteenth
century, Arthur Kipps, a junior solicitor, is summoned to attend the funeral of
Mrs Alice Drablow and go through her will, property papers and testimony.
Proud and solitary, Eel Marsh House surveys the windswept
reaches of the salt marshes beyond Nine Lives Causeway.
Nobody at Crythin Gifford liked the
Eel Marsh House. There was an eerie feeling about that mansion. But Arthur
realized it much late.
It is not until he glimpses an
emaciated young woman, dressed in all black, that a creeping sense of unease
begins to take hold, a feeling deepened by the reluctance of the locals to talk
of the woman in black- and her horrible purpose.
What I found the most interesting
part?
Well, it was undoubtedly the part where Arthur
decides to set the Woman in Black free from the curse and is she at last free?
I presume she wasn’t. Also when he
decides to stay put for the night at the Eel Marsh House. That part really gave
me goose bumps! It’s a story of revenge.
Questions like who was the woman in
black? Or what was her motive to kill? All can be answered if you read the book
or you can watch the movie, though the book is better.
The movie has a little different
plot than the book, but if you like Daniel Radcliffe, you ought to see it!
Filled with heartstoppingly chilling
pages, The Woman in Black was a delight to read!
i still havent seen he whole movie

DeleteHmm... I think I'll try the movie. Though I might want to read the book first...
