Met By Chance Part 1

She doesn’t know how to handle. She doesn’t know how to deal, but what she knows, she does it the best. ‘I would have gone berserk if you had not come along! I am so glad that I decided on you’ Driti said.
‘Who else would have you called? This is my area of expertise Driti’
‘Completely your battle field, what are you doing in IT? You should be planning all such mega visits for shopping, especially when it comes to wedding shopping’
The girl laughed to what her friend had said. Deep down she knew it was true but Information Technology had been her mission in life. She was an eligible bachelorette who was independent, confident and an extrovert. What she lacked in was the so called idea of love. Myra Arora had never been in love or she didn’t know if she had. Way back in school, she found those cliché couples pathetically boring.
‘I see them one more time and I swear I will puke’ Myra would often comment.
All she aimed for was a good lifestyle which included lots of shopping and travelling. Her parents on the other hand were very much into her wedding, especially Myra’s father. Myra had a twin brother, Arav. She was very close to her family especially to her brother. Myra and Arav had been so different which also made them inseparable.

‘We were born on the same day and from the same mother, yet we are completely opposite’ Myra would always say to her friends.
Since they were twins their parents decided upon sending them to different schools. Myra went to a Co-ed school while Arav went to an all boys’ school. The reason was never clear. Arav had been in the family business ever since he completed his post-graduation. His love life wasn’t dull at all. Driti Roy was to be Mrs Arora that is Myra’s sister in-law. The two had met in college, dated ever since and Arav finally proposed. For Myra it was all too very filmy but she liked Driti so she didn’t mind. And even if she didn’t she had no choice but to accept her brother’s wife.
But something happened on that day. It changed Myra and her life. Driti was calling out Myra’s name but she didn’t respond. She was so glued to the guy. He stood in the opposite shop, just like in her past; tall, dark and handsome. ‘Was he still single?’ she thought. Then she saw a lady behind, he hugged her and went inside the café.

‘Who is that?’ asked Driti
‘What? Oh that. I don’t know, I was looking at those lovely pastries’ said Myra
‘Oh really?  So if you are done admiring the pastries, let us go have one’
‘No not at all. I am really full, you go ahead’
‘What? C’mon! If you are not going then I am not going either’
‘Okay then, we should leave. It is getting late besides you have to out with Arav’ Myra said to change the topic.
‘Yes! Oh I just completely forgot about that. Thanks for reminding’
‘So let us go; I will drop you at your place then’
Driti agreed and they left the mall immediately. After dropping Driti, Myra kept on thinking about that guy she saw.

‘Was that his wife or girlfriend? She could be his sister too. Wait, did he have a sister? Off course, she was two years younger than me. But was that her?’ all sorts of weird questions came to her mind. After reaching home she did something which was expected, she searched the guy on Facebook. ‘Dammit we are not friends’ she thought. The profile showed thirty seven mutual friends.
All of them were her acquaintances except for one, Shruti Sinha. Myra knew her well; a close friend was very close to Shruti. In fact they were rumoured to be dating each other. ‘C’mon Myra you can’t be serious. What if he is married?’ she thought but then ‘what if he isn’t?’ Before she could contact her friend, another friend called.

‘Hello?’
‘Hello jaye bhaad mein! Kahan hai tu aajkal? (Where are you these days?)’
‘Yahaan! (Here) Avni tere paas time nahi hai! Mujhay kya suna rahi hai (Avni you are the one who doesn’t have time, what are you saying). I am good, preparing for Arav’s wedding , what happened? You seem excited’
‘Myra, it is something to be excited. The alumni meet is on this Sunday And guess what! The whole gang is in town. Everyone is here! It is going to be amazing, after seven long years we are all going to be back’
‘Wow! That is amazing, but Sunday I guess we are all leaving for Chandigarh. Wedding in two weeks but I will arrange something for myself, this thing even I don’t want to miss’
‘You better do, you have to be there for sure!’
‘Yes I will be there. Now cut the phone and inform others’
‘Yes I will do that. Take care’
‘Alumni Meet, he might attend it as well’ she thought.
